Writing About Your Life

The newest book by my favorite writing coach just arrived in the mail. I'm not a fan of hardcover books--paying more for the same content in a fancy wrapper doesn't justify them in my book--I've always gotten along fine reading and collecting paperbacks since I was a kid. But when the book is penned by William Zinsser on a topic I've become passionate in the past year, the extra cost certainly outweighs waiting a few months for a paperback version.

On Writing Well is the reference book with a permanent space on my bookshelf, right next to The Elements of Style. While Strunk and White set the rules to concise writing, Zinsser is exemplary in applying these rules to his work.

Writing About Your Life is no doubt to be another Zinsser classic. I'm only on chapter two, read over lunch, and already I had to put it down so I can get to my iBook to start writing. If that's not an indicator of a successful book on writing, what is? Now that I've written an entry, I can't wait to get home from work to finish reading the book.
