Online storage
While we wait eagerly for the launch of Google's GDrive [1][2] and Microsoft's Live Drive [1][2], here's a few others to check out:
Xdrive (5GB free, now by AOL; my take on it)
Box.net (1GB free)
goowy (1GB free via box.net)
eSnips (1GB free)
ThinkFree (expected to increase storage 10-fold after April 24th 1GB free)
Orbitfiles (1GB free)
Omnidrive (soon to be in public beta)
iDisk (part of .Mac)
Filemobile (250MB free, in alpha)
Don't forget the 2.7+GB that came with our Gmail. Use gDisk to fill up all those unused space.
Comments
FYI, www.swapzies.com offers unlimited space for free.

Thanks for the tip. I've read the FAQ on Swapzies and it seems more like a file swapping site than online storage:
Q: I have uploaded a file and can`t access it
A: If you have uploaded a file but cannot access it you are probably out of credit. The file will remain within your account for up to 7 days to give you time to buy more credit. Once your account is back in credit you will be able to access the file again. If you do not buy additional credit within the 7 day period your file may be deleted.

You missed IBackup , which was rated as one of the top two rated online backup solutions for the years’2003, 2004 and 2005 by none other than the PC Magazine.
I use IBackup for Windows (www.ibackup.com/ibwin_new.htm) as it is perfect for my personal and official needs. It offers incremental and compressed backups that greatly reduce network bandwidth by transferring only portions of files modified.
One of their impressive applications is IDrive that lets you map your online IBackup account as a local drive on to your PC. You can then perform multiple tasks like opening, editing, and drag- and-drop files in your online account, as if it they are all on your computer.
Webmanager can create folders and share files or folders with others for collaborative access. All communication with IBackup is safe and secure as there is 128-bit SSL encryption.
Another interesting feature is `Snapshots’ which allows a user to see the data stored in the IBackup account during the previous days-something like data history.

Thanks for the info on IBackup. Since it's a paying service, I'll leave it in the comments section as an alternate for readers to check out. If you wonder why .Mac is on my list, it's because it's my personal preference. This is a Mac-centric sight after all.
